ENTRY TO FESTIVAL 2025 NOW CLOSED

Festival Mascot

A musical octopus called ‘The Masterpus’, drawn by St Columba’s High pupil Nuala Munro, was selected as the Festival’s new mascot following a competition involving schools across the district. This competition was developed to engage with Schools after the 2023 Festival. With support from Rig Art’s, Karen Orr, Nuala’s design was chosen as the winner.

The 12-year-old’s drawing was shortlisted from hundreds of entries, alongside designs created by her fellow St Columba’s pupils Jessica Gallagher and Jodie Blyth.

Local artist Marcella Wylie then developed Nuala’s design concept into a mascot that could be transferred digitally onto Festival stickers, posters, programmes and social media posts.

Nuala’s name can be found on the guitar, as well as other clever touches that link her mascot to James Watt and Robert Burns.
